Tia Watts and Fredrick Robbins decided after eight years of being in a loving and lasting relationship, that it was time to make a lifetime commitment and become husband and wife. Being a professional football player for the New York Giants, Fred chose to propose to Tia at a victory party in London on October 28, 2007 following a victorious win over the Miami Dolphins. As the couple danced the night away, Fred took his chance and asked Tia to marry him– taking her by such surprise, he had to ask her again -of course she said yes!
On Saturday, May 23, 2009, Fredrick and Tia were joined as husband and wife before close friends and family on the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. They chose to be married originally on the Grand Lawn at the Grand Sandestin. However, due to unusual Memorial Day weekend weather, it was conducted indoors. The saying is, “rain on your wedding day is good luck”, so they welcomed it!
Tia graced the ballroom wearing an Ivory, hand-embroidered couture gown made of tulle, lace and genuine Swarovski crystals. A custom veil with Swarovski crystals flowed behind her and she held a flourishing bouquet designed by Kebbie Hollingsworth of Bliss Event Group. Tai’s maids of honor wore luminescent taffeta dresses by Watters in Macadamia and her bridesmaids (and flower girls) wore duchess satin dresses by WTOO in plum.
Fred modeled a stunning custom designed tuxedo, shirt, vest and tie by Elevee Custom Clothing. His Groomsmen modeled custom designed shirts, vests and ties by Elevee Custom Clothing and their tuxedo’s were from Men’s Warehouse.
Following the ceremony, guests of the bride and groom were invited to stay and celebrate in Sandestin’s Magnolia Ballroom. Kebbie Hollingsworth of Bliss Event Group elegantly designed the room with tasteful florals, and guests were treated to a customized family style dinner created by the professionally talented catering team at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The menu consisted of coconut marinated Mahi-Mahi, Jamaican chicken with curry sauce, spice chicken breast with rum butter sauce, smoked pork ribs with mango BBQ sauce, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted plantains, island rice and peas, green beans with julienne red peppers, rum-mint marinated fruit salad and corn bread.
The DJ’s booth and cocktail bars were made of plexiglas and lit with purple frost lighting that gave a nice glow. The dance floor was a black lacquered dance floor with a monogram in the center of the floor and there was a lounge section with leather benches and ottomans for guests to relax and mingle. For entertainment, DJ Goldfinger (well-known DJ from NY) lit up the room with a mix of songs for the new couple. A smile booth also served as a guest-book for guests to write messages on a chalkboard and take a fun picture with their message for the bride and groom. In addition to this photo booth, all of the laughter, fun, tears, and smiles were captured in stills by the wonderfully talented Ross Oscar Knight Photography of Atlanta, Ga. (

As the night came to an end, guests were invited to an after reception party at Fred and Tia’s luxurious penthouse suite in the Grand Sandestin. The couple wanted to make the most of their evening by enjoying time with friends and family.
The couple now devide their time in Edgewater, NJ and Gulf Breeze, FL as they balance their professional careers and new life together. •
