After one year of dating, Jay and Dana Simpson decided to walk down the aisle on April 18, 2009, and become husband and wife. The occasion took place at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The location was an easy choice. It had been apart of their lives since they could remember. Both Dana and Jay’s parents owned a condo on the resort in the same building since they were children – the couple had vacationed together for years before they even met.
Relaxation was an important aspect to the bride and groom. On the day of the ceremony the Dana and her bridesmaids enjoyed a spa day, while Jay and the groomsmen played volleyball up until two hours before the ceremony began.
The marriage ceremony transpired on the Bayview Terrace, which was adorned with purple orchids and hanging lanyards. The guest sat in bamboo chairs, and the couple made the commitment of a lifetime between two palm trees in front of the blue waters of the Gulf Coast. Brian K. Cain Photography captured each moment throughout the day.
Afterwards the couple and guest moved to the Bayview Room for the reception. They fellowshipped and dined on food catered by the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The mood was set by the lighting and décor provided by Showtime Events.
As the sunset, the bride and her sisters surprised the guest with a choreographed dance to a Britney Spears’ song. This set the bar for the rest of the night and the guest followed in their footsteps and danced the night away. When it came time to say goodbye Jay and Dana ran through a tunnel of sparklers held by their family and friends.
They spent their wedding night on the resort and had a “Trash the Dress” photo session planned for the day after the wedding. This is where the bride can put her wedding dress back on and have some fun, since the fear of getting it dirty is over.
The couple now resides in Memphis, Tenn., where Jay works as a broker and Dana works in medical research.
