Jessica and Ty, both from Orange Beach, Alabama, first met at the Orange Beach Recreation Center, where Jessica worked, before attending nursing school at the University of South Alabama. While Jessica spent her time working, she also spent her time keeping an eye on Ty. After seeing Ty at the Gym so often, Jessica started working out herself, after work. While spending time on the fitness center floor she noticed Ty was talking to everyone in the gym…everyone, but her. Ty would even talk to Jessica’s father who also worked at the center. After a month or so the two started to eye each other shyly but still didn’t talk. Then, one night one of Jessica’s coworkers told Ty that Jessica was interested in him. With this new info he came to her, started a conversation, then asked her out for dinner. Pretty fast moving on Ty’s part, considering Jessica had spent months hoping this moment would come.
Ever since that magnificent first date the two spent most of their time with each other. On Christmas Eve 2008, only a few minutes after his mother and father arrived from out of town, Ty surprised Jessica by arriving early from work. She had noticed he had been acting strange. She had been wondering what was wrong with him; then with a shaky, nervous voice he turned towards her and said he had to ask her something. Ty was now bent down on one knee in the living room floor in front of everyone; he asked, “will you marry me?” Jessica was so excited it would have been impossible for her to respond any faster. Nearly knocking him down, in her moment of excitement, she immediately responded, “YES!”
Ty and Jessica decided to have their wedding at the Orange Beach United Methodist Church. The couple chose beautiful Orange Beach, Alabama for many reasons. This is where they were both from, this is where Jessica’s mother is in business as a beach wedding planner, and also because this is where the couple met. The wedding coordination was handled by Jessica’s mother, Sheryl Lindsay and her aunt, Sheila Newman, partners in the well known Orange Beach Weddings & Events. Jessica’s uncle is a retired florist from Birmingham, and arranged all of the eloborate flower decorations. The wedding table arrangements were in 24 inch glass cylinder vases with curly willow, white and green Dendrbium Orchids, and Bells or Ireland. The chapel looked great, and the décor was almost breathtaking in appearance and splendor.
Jessica wore a Lazaro A-line gown with a chapel train and sweet heart necklace. This beautiful dress featured alencon lace in ivory, and was champagne in color. Jessica’s veil was longer than her whole dress, also with a chapel train, and included her maiden initials surrounded by lace at the end of it. Her bouquet, by her uncle, consisted of champagne roses, white hydrangeas, green hyper conium and white orchids. To accentuate her dress and bouquet she wore her grandmother’s Mikimoto pearl necklace and ring, and her grandmother’s pearl and diamond earrings. She also wore her great grandmother’s gold and sapphire brooch, which greatly complimented her dress. In remembrance of her late grandfather, Jessica carried his handkerchief with her bouquet as she walked the aisle to her groom.
Ty sported a black tuxedo with a dashing ivory shirt, vest, and tie. The bridesmaids wore tea length, spaghetti strap dresses in beautiful navy and ivory. They also had bouquets that consisted of green and white hydrangeas, roses, and green hyper conium. Ty’s groomsmen were also dressed to impress; each in a black tuxedo with complementing ivory shirt and navy vest and tie.
The wedding occurred on November 7, 2009 was attended by 150 of the couple’s family and friends attended, and officiated over by the minister of Orange Beach Methodist Church, Dr. Allen McBride. The Bride and Groom chose to write their own vows for the ceremony, and the couple also decided to partake in a first communion as a married couple during the marriage ceremony. The entire wedding was very Christian based and special to the couple, however Jessica commented that the most special part of the whole process was the love, support, and help from their family and friends, specifically Jessica’s parents Gary and Sheryl Lindsay, whom without none of this would have been possible.
A reception party was held immediately after the ceremony, at the Phoenix West Condominium complex; overlooking the Alabama Gulf. The party took place in two ballrooms and flowed out onto the tennis courts. Naman’s catering catered the reception, and did a magnificent job with lots of great food for all. The lovely couple had a wine and cheese station and other pass hors d oeuvres for cocktail hour, then for the dinner they had a spring mix salad with brown sugar pecans and a raspberry hazelnut vinaigrette. The main course consisted of beef tenderloin and sesame seared tuna, and a potato station. For the after dinner there was a coffee station with a variety of coffee and teas. During the cocktail hour Jessica and Ty had photos taken. The dinnerware, stage, and dance floor were provided by Miller’s Grand Events. Also there were Fabric and lighting by Geri Sims Productions from Atlanta, Georgia. Everyone had a grand time at the reception with lots of dancing, singing, laughter and fun. Jessica and Ty exited their reception through a line of family and friends and took the elevator to their elaborate on site condo provided by Brett Robinson Vacation Rentals. The entire event was captured in photographs by Faith Photography of Orange Beach, thus making sure that the couple will look back upon their wedding day excitement for many years coming.
After enjoying a few nights of wedding bliss and relaxation the couple went back to the real world where Ty is an Assistant Superintendent with Yates Construction and Jessica is now attending nursing school at the University of South Alabama. Now residing in Lucedale, Mississippi –because of Ty’s recent job transfer- the couple’s honeymoon is on hold until Jessica gets out of school in May. Their honeymoon plans are to go skiing in Colorado or Alaska (writer’s note: AWESOME!!!!!)
