Real Brides, Real Weddings

Tilson, Greene Wedding
Caitlin -from Gainesville, GA- first met Slate- from Moultrie, GA- through a mutual friend in his fraternity at Georgia Southern University. The two immediately hit it off and in fall semester of their senior year (2007) the two started getting seriously and fell madly in love.

Slate had been searching for Caitlin’s ring for about 6 months when he found the perfect diamond at a jeweler on the square of his hometown in Moultrie, Ga. When the ring came to his mother’s house on April 26, 2008, Slate drove to meet her and his aunt for dinner. Slate’s mom had everyone in the restaurant telling their engagement stories. After dinner, he was inspired to drive to Caitlin’s house with the ring on his pinky finger contemplating the perfect way to propose. When he arrived he found Caitlin asleep in her bed. He went over to her and gently slipped the ring on the wrong finger. She halfway woke up when he started giving his speech. Caitlin, who was still half asleep, finally realized what was going on and she immediately said, “Yes!” She then went screaming into the other rooms showing off her ring to her roommates, before she and Slate went out to celebrate over dinner and a movie.

Caitlin has always dreamed of getting married on the beach and the white sands of the Beaches of South Walton (www.beachesofsouthwalton.com) were too appealing to pass up. The couple loved the idea of renting beach houses from Pearly White Properties in Seagrove Beach and having their wedding and reception on The Lawn by the Sea- behind two of Pearly White’s homes. They rented Above it All and Triple Crown, so they would have two wonderful beach houses for their families and wedding party.

The outside ceremony was held on The Lawn and set a wonderful backdrop for a very special beginning.Slate’s sister, Andrea Lasseter - a florist in Tennessee – handled the floral décor.   The couple decided on silk flowers for the bouquets, buttoners, and corsages.

Andrea arrived a few days earlier and she worked night and day on the flowers making sure they were perfect for her brother and new sister. The arrangements featured white roses, white roses with pink tips, pink stargazer lilies, and a tiny bit of blue hydrangeas, making an awesome sight to behold in the Florida sun.

The bride’s gown had a sweetheart, beaded neckline and a long train that followed behind her bare feet . She wore teardrop shaped earrings that matched the beading design on her dress. Her bridesmaids wore turquoise, satin, Da-Vinci dresses. Each dress was adorned with a white satin ribbon that tied in the front. The groom wore a long sleeved white button-up shirt and khakis. His groomsmen followed his lead, but instead of a white button-up they matched the bridesmaids in turquoise.

The couple exchanged their personally written vows in front of about 125 guests. The reception took place on The Lawn in between the two beach houses. Emerald Coast Catering provided the tents, tables, chairs and the Japanese lanterns that hung from the center of the tents, along with the wonderful food. The center arrangements were provided by Becky Lively, an event planner from the groom’s hometown. They consisted of live roses, hydrangeas and greenery that surrounded a tall glass vase with a large white candle.

The guest chose between the pasta express and grilling stations, which offered a wide variety of pastas and grilled skewers. The open bar and the disc jockey from Destin DJ kept the guest entertained all night. Each moment from the wedding vows to the guest dancing away to the Cupid Shuffle was captured by the great photography of Diva Productions of Panama City Beach, making an array of lasting memories to last a lifetime.

When the couple decided they couldn’t dance any longer they escaped to their honeymoon by running through bubbles blown by their guest. They enjoyed the well appointed honeymoon suite at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort, nearby. Caitlin and Slate spent the rest of their honeymoon in Ocho Rios, Jamaica where they stayed in a private villa at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios.

The Greenes’ now happily reside in Sandy Springs, Georgia, but can’t wait to get back to the beach! •
