Foley, Alabama

Photographs by Lacoste Photography

NAMES: Keven and Lisa Williams

LIVE IN: Elberta, AL

OCCUPATIONS: Lisa is co-owner and stylist at The Hair Center in Foley, AL. Keven is a crew chief in the water department at Riviera Utilities

NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ATTENDED: 200+

NUMBER OF ATTENDANTS: 5 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen, flower girl and ring bearer

HOW THEY MET: At the church where the bride grew up and the groom’s grandparents attend

THE ENGAGEMENT: On Lisa’s 21st birthday, they went to dinner at Keven’s mom’s house for cake. Lisa walked in to a huge surprise with everyone singing ‘Happy Birthday,’ cameras flashing and video cameras on. On the cake was a pink parrot tulip with the ring inside. The cake read, “Happy Birthday, Lisa. Will you marry me?” The pink parrot tulip was used for the center of Lisa’s wedding bouquet.

WHAT SHE LOVES MOST ABOUT HIM: His smile. He only smiles every once in a while, but when he does, it’s a smile from deep inside.

WHAT HE LOVES MOST ABOUT HER: Her desire to go somewhere in life. How many 21-year-olds own a business?

WEDDING COLORS: Ivory, sage green and mocha

BRIDE’S BOUQUET: Iris, parrot tulips, peonies, snapdragons, and lasparagus fern

BRIDESMAIDS’ BOUQUETS: Hydrangeas and roses

WEDDING CAKE: Five-tiered square with butter cream icing accented by mocha swirls to look like the bride’s dress, with fresh hydrangea and pink roses between tiers of white cake with raspberry filling. The topper was an antique bride and groom.

THE THING WE WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY: Started the ceremony 30 minutes earlier so there would have been more daylight.

WHAT WAS UNIQUE ABOUT THE WEDDING: It was held at the bride’s great-great-grandfather’s home, established in 1883. The date of the wedding was the groom’s great-grandmother’s birthday, and the bride and groom’s 5-year dating anniversary. The wedding party stood in the shade of a grand oak tree while the guests were seated on bales of hay covered by antique quilts.

THREE ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE THE WEDDING: Personal, intimate, timeless.

ABOUT THE HONEYMOON: We stayed at the Berkshires of Massachusetts and toured five of the New England states.
