HOW THEY MET: Donnette was working for the NBC affiliate in Mobile. The News Director came over with Taylor and told her this is your new weekend photographer....the rest is history.
THE ENGAGEMENT: Donnette’ always dreamed about the day Taylor would ask her to marry him. So he decided to make her dreams come true, literally. He wanted to wake Donnette’ up in the middle of the night and tell her she was dreaming again and then ask her. The bad thing: Donnette’ couldn't sleep that night. Early the next morning Taylor got up and started putting rose petals all over the bed while Donnette’ was half asleep. Moments later, they were engaged. Then they spent the rest of the day together at Seaworld.
FAVORITE DATE: We have always tried to have dates that were not your typical dinner and a movie. One night we decided to head to New Orleans and take a dinner cruise. We cruised up the Mississippi River and it was amazing. The food was great, the weather could not have been better, and that's the night we started falling in love.
WHAT SHE LOVES MOST ABOUT HIM: Most of all, how he calms me down. Taylor has been the one person who has made me understand it's OK if things aren’t perfect. And he understands my sarcasm.
WHAT HE LOVES THE MOST ABOUT HER: I have to say I love her smile, the way she always thinks of others and never wants anyone to feel left out. Also, her sarcasm and quick wit.
WEDDING COLORS: Eggplant and black
WEDDING FLOWERS: For my flowers and Taylor’s boutonniere, we went with deep purple calla lilies. For the bridesmaids and the groomsmen had white calla lilies. The girls had three long stem calla lilies with a simple black ribbon.
WEDDING CAKE: We did four layers and topped it off with a monogrammed cake topper, classic white icing with a cream filing. Then had eggplant ribbon circle the bottom of each layer and small scrolls on each piece of ribbon.
THE THING THAT WE WOULD HAVE DONE DIFFERENTLY: Since I was planning a wedding in a different state, I probably would have hired someone to help me with the details in Mobile.
WHAT WAS UNIQUE: A basket of flip flops in the bathroom for the girls. We also had a basket of things like pantyhose, toothpaste, tooth brushes, perfume, gum, etc., anything someone may need through out the night.
HER ADVICE TO OTHER BRIDES: Try to stay calm and remember, if something goes wrong, no one will know but you.
THREE ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE THE WEDDING: Simple, elegant, and trendy
HONEYMOON: We decided to head to St. Lucia for a week.
